Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008....

2007 came and will be gone after today. For some, we may say, "2008 already?" For some, we may say, "Where did time go?"And yet for some, we may say, "I can't wait for next year!". No matter what our feelings may be, 2008 definitely will greet us come 1st January 2008. Pastor Tim gave a very good sharing yesterday and here is a gist of what he shared for those who missed his sermon.

According to John Ortberg, there is no rewind button in our lives. We can only play out our life, stop or paused to reflect on things and move forward. As one look ahead towards another year, one needs to:
1) Leave behind "childish" ways and move on to maturity

2) Leave behind barenness and move on to productivity

3) Leave behind the past and move on to destiny

He shared on 3 things that we need to leave behind:
a) Past failures, disappointments (which can results in regress instead of take the step forward)

b) Past success, accomplishments (which can results in pride, self-righteous)

c) Past nostalgia (which can results in staying in the comfort zone)

Many of us including myself sometimes dwell too much on item a, b, c; and fail to see God's will for us to bring us to greater heights. The missed opportunities and experiences can leave us feeling regretful and guilty for not making the most of it.

As we say hello to 2008, let's make a choice and say I want to be a difference-maker in 2008 in wherever, whatever or however we may be; and by end of 2008, we will say "I have done my best in whatever God has lead and given opportunity for me to do".

Wishing you all much blessings in 2008!

教我言語柔和,態度誠懇,心情開朗,精神愉快;

Jesus and Santa

Jesus & Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.

Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

Prayer Newsletter from Thailand, Bangkok (Dec 2009)
Dear Prayer Partners,

Primary students’ meeting
. After the primary English course on 12-16 Oct, we invited the students to our kids club. Two students came regularly since then and they brought two more friends. New kids came too as a result of our promotion at the market fair every Thursday. Once about 20 new kids came to our kids club.. Pray that these kids will know Christ through the songs and Bible stories we share each week.

High school students’ Eng class
I started an English tuition class with few youths at my house in the beginning of Nov.
Most of them are my neighbors. In the beginning of Dec while I was explaining the meaning
of BC (before Christ) from their text book, one of the girls asked me about Jesus. So I started
to share the gospel with them. Praise the Lord that two of them accepted Christ. And they
are willing to have Bible study with me on a regular basis.

University students’ meeting
In the end of Oct till Dec we planned to have an English course for university students. However, nobody signed up. So we decided to invite some Chinese university students whom we contacted before to our house as a friendship evangelistic outreach. In Nov we announced that we would have a home meeting especially for them every two weeks. Their responses were very positive. Two of them happily clapped their hands. We thank God for the opportunity to serve these students. Pray that they will find the truth and follow Christ faithfully.

Praise & Prayers:
1. There will be a “My Hope—World Evangelism Television Project” by Billy Graham in Thailand on 18-20th December. We shall invite 10 neighbors to our houses to watch a TV gospel program. Pray that God will prepare our neighbors’ hearts to accept the gospel.
2. We shall celebrate Christmas at our church on 25 Dec. Pray that our friends and seekers who
are invited to come will know the real meaning of Christmas.
3. On 26 Dec, we shall have a Christmas party for the Chinese University students. Pray that those
who come will know Jesus, Center of the season.
4. Recently I have created a blog http://chriskwok2009.blogspot.com/May God use it for His glory!

Thanks for your prayers,

Billy Graham T.V. Evangelism Project 'My Hope' Set to Launch in Thailand

Thousands of Christians in southeast Asian country prepared to share their faith with family and friends this week

Contact: Graham Clark, BGEA, 704-401-2116, 980-939-4377 mobile, gclark@bgea.org

CHARLOTTE, NC, Dec. 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- More than 36,000 Christians representing more than 1,700 churches across Thailand are prepared to implement My Hope, a successful outreach project of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), at the end of this week. Evangelistic meetings will be taking place in homes, churches schools and various other venues all over the country December 17-19.

"In a country where only one-half of one percent of the population belongs to a evangelical church, the need for the Gospel is tremendous," said Bill Conard, vice president of international ministries at BGEA. "But the church is ready, and we are eagerly anticipating what God will do through His people."

My Hope Thailand is an effort driven by local Christians who want their communities to know God's love in Jesus Christ. These Christians, referred to as "Matthews," (recalling the disciple who invited friends to his home to meet Jesus -- Matthew 9), will host neighbors, relatives and friends to watch a thought-provoking TV program or video, which feature sermons from Franklin and Billy Graham dubbed into the Thai language, as well as testimonies and songs from Thai Christians.

On Saturday, December 19, the program will be on television, and the other nights the programs will be viewed on DVD, 30,000 of which were distributed to Christians across the country. The programs will also be offered on nationwide radio stations.

After watching the program, the Matthews will give their own brief testimony and invite those present to accept or rededicate their lives to Jesus. All Matthews have undergone training to conduct the outreaches.

"It is no easy thing to express your faith in Christ and ask others to join you," said Conard. "We're praying that God would grant courage to these faithful believers as they reach out to their loved ones during the Christmas season."

The My Hope project is a significant part of the vision Thailand's Christian leaders have for reaching the country for Christ. In May, when the project officially began, My Hope was the focus of an evangelism conference in Thailand attended by more than 4,000 Christian leaders.

To date, My Hope has been implemented in 46 countries and has witnessed astounding responses for the Gospel. Upcoming outreaches will take place in the Dominican Republic (March 2010) and Puerto Rico (April 2010).

A Christmas poem

I would like to share the following Christmas poem with you:

Wednesday, December 26, 2007
Christmas is a time....

Hope everybody had a Blessed Christmas! Though Christmas is over, the spirit of Christmas (love, joy and peace in Christ) lives on. Enjoy this poem on Christmas
time.

Christmas is a time
To share God’s love
An amazing unconditional love
That leaves one in awe

Christmas is a time
To receive and to give
Just as God gave
His Son, the Only One

Christmas is a time
To say we forgive

Like Jesus Christ forgave
All of our iniquities

Christmas is a time
To remember the time
We accepted Christ in our life

And thank God for His presence

Christmas is a time

To show we appreciate
Those we hold and love
Made possible by His grace

10 Points to Note From Noah's Ark

One : Don't miss the boat.
Two : Remember that we are all in the same boat.
Three : Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
Four : Stay fit When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
Five : Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
Six : Build your future on high ground.
Seven : For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
Eight : Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
Nine : When you're stressed, float a while.
Ten : Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

And remember.....
No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting... Amen! =)
